ROCHESTER, N.Y., November 7, 2018 — Jewish Home announces that Rabbi Steven Rubenstein has joined the organization as the Director of Chaplaincy Services, effective immediately. Rabbi Rubenstein will serve the spiritual needs of residents, their families and staff—both one-on-one and through a variety of group programs. His Chaplain training allows him to support people of all faiths.
In his position, Rabbi Rubenstein will provide Jewish services on holidays, teach classes for residents on a variety of topics, lead end-of-life ceremonies, and meet with residents and family members for counseling services.
Rabbi Rubenstein previously spent six years as the Director of Spiritual Services for Shalom Cares, a skilled nursing community in the greater Denver, CO area. Prior to that, he spent 12 years as a Rabbi at Temple B’nai Abraham in Beverly, Mass. For the first 15 years of his career, he served in rabbinic roles at a variety of synagogues across the country.
Rabbi Rubenstein completed four years of clinical pastoral education (CPE) at the Northeast Health System in Beverly, Mass and was ordained as a Rabbi at the Academy for Jewish Religion. He holds a BA in Psychology from University of Pennsylvania, attended the Simmons School of Social Work, and also completed a MAJCS at Brandeis University.
Rabbi Rubenstein resides in Rochester with his wife.
