More than 300 pieces of furniture to date have been donated since beginning construction within the Jewish Home Farash Tower. As residents moved into the Green House Cottages and rooms in Farash Tower were cleared for renovation, gently used furniture items including dressers, night stands, wardrobe closets, and lamps were given to area organizations such as the House of Mercy, Temple B’rith Kodesh, Temple Beth David, Chabad Center, and Patriot Guard Riders.
Sr. Grace Miller, Founder and CEO of the House of Mercy, notes the donations will be distributed and delivered to individuals and families who experience severe poverty in Rochester. “Many of the items are given to men and women as they leave the emergency shelter and move into permanent housing. The ability to move into a new apartment with quality furniture is truly life-changing. We are humbled and proud to have developed this partnership with Jewish Home,” she says.
“Giving back to our Rochester community is very important to us,” said Mike King, President and CEO of Jewish Home. “We continually strive to improve quality of life, health, and well-being of the individuals in our community, and we’re excited to be able to help out some great organizations with these donations.” Jewish Home still has additional items available for donation.
