Jewish Home Celebrates Rosh Hashanah with 5th Annual Parade

(Sep. 26, 2024 – ROCHESTER, NY) Jewish Home brought the community together to celebrate the Jewish New Year a week early with its annual Rosh Hashanah Parade. What began during the 2020 pandemic as a safe way to connect, has now blossomed into a tradition that unites older adults with the local community in a festive way.

“Every year, we look forward to hosting this tradition that celebrates hope, happiness, peace, and a sweet new year with our Jewish Home friends and family. We’re delighted to welcome new members of the community as well as those who have supported this parade year after year,” says Silvana Bacman, Jewish Life and Learning Coordinator at Jewish Home.

The parade route circled the entire Jewish Home campus to bring joy to older adult residents of independent living, assisted living, and skilled nursing care, as well as participants in the adult day health care program.

Parade participants included students from Abraham Lincoln School #22, students from Hillel Community Day School and Derech HaTorah, ShinShinim (Israeli Emissaries), Congregation Beth Sholom, Temple Beth El, Temple Sinai, Jewish Federation of Rochester, first responders, families, staff, and an appearance from Brighton Town Supervisor, William W. Moehle. Rabbi Steven Rubenstein sounded the shofar alongside Jewish Home Board of Directors Chair, Al Kinel.
