Newsweek ranks Jewish Home #1 nursing home in New York State on America’s Best Nursing Homes 2026 list — for second consecutive year
ROCHESTER, N.Y. — For the second year in a row, Jewish Home has been ranked the #1 nursing home in New York State on Newsweek’s prestigious America’s Best Nursing Homes 2026 list, based on four pillars:
- Performance data (staff-to-patient ratio, quality measures, health inspections)
- Peer evaluations (surveys from nurses, physicians, and other medical professionals)
- Accreditations (official recognition by key organizations for quality and safety standards)
- Resident satisfaction (positive reviews from patients and residents and their families)
Working in partnership with global data-intelligence firm Statista, Newsweek analyzed 14,752 nursing homes in the United States and highlighted the leading 1,200 nursing homes on their America’s Best Nursing Homes 2026 list — awarding nursing homes state-by-state that excelled at quality of care, commitment to safety, and resident well-being. Newsweek uses data from the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services in making determinations. The intent of Newsweek’s annual list is to provide a tool that assists older adults and their families in making informed decisions about long-term care.
“Making the list of America’s Best Nursing Homes for five consecutive years and now being recognized twice as #1 in New York State is a testament to the high level of medical care and compassion we provide at Jewish Home,” said Michele Schirano, Senior Vice President and Administrator at Jewish Home. “We will continue to elevate our services and quality measures and proudly share this tremendous honor from Newsweek with our staff, residents, patients, families, and the entire Jewish Home community.”
An example of elevated services at Jewish Home is the recent formation of the IV Center of Excellence, which reduces hospitalizations and offers the best approach for fluid-medication infusion. This service line is not normally offered in senior-living medical care and further enables Jewish Home to provide elevated medical care.
“One of the most important decisions families face is choosing a trusted nursing home for themselves or a loved one,” said Alexis Kayse, Newsweek Healthcare Editor. “Finding the right facility can make a profound difference in health outcomes and overall quality of life.”
The America’s Best Nursing Homes 2026 winners were recognized in three categories based on size: large (150+ certified beds), medium (100–149 certified beds), and small (50–99 certified beds). Jewish Home, with more than 350 certified beds, topped the New York State list of large nursing homes.
Jewish Home is one of only three large nursing homes in New York state on Newsweek’s list that is a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC), a long-term care option that enables older adults access to a full continuum of care as medical needs progress. Jewish Home is the only CCRC and only provider of Life Care in the Rochester area.
