Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update March 19, 2020

NEWS FOR OUR JEWISH SENIOR LIFE FAMILY

This communication was developed to keep our residents, staff, families, and other key stakeholders up to date on our progress preventing the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) at Jewish Home.

As of today’s date, we have no known cases of the virus within our organization and we are taking every precaution to prevent it from spreading here. We have tightened our screening and visitation policies across our campus.

  • No outside visitors will be allowed in any of our buildings including family members. Exceptions may be requested for an end-of-life situation.
  • All outside events for residents in the community are cancelled.
  • External medical appointments for residents are not permitted, unless deemed critically necessary.
  • All staff entering any campus building will be required to participate in a temperature screening.
  • We have secured all exterior doors across our campus and designated a single point of entry to each building.
  • Our Medical Adult Day Program, Marian’s House and Outpatient Rehabilitation are closed.
  • Per best practices, we are instituting restrictions on congregate dining, where feasible. We have implemented room service at The Summit at Brighton. All Wolk Manor residents will dine in their apartment, except those needing assistance.
  • We are working rapidly to set up FaceTime or Skype for families to schedule virtual visits with their loved ones.
  • Virtual intergenerational programs are being planned along with streaming services of music, movies and other entertainment for residents across our campus.

We know residents, families and visitors are being placed in a very difficult position by having limited contact with their loved ones. We feel this is the best course of action as we try to create a line of defense against the COVID-19. We are following the directives from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), New York State Department of Health and Monroe County Health Department.
