Update for Jewish Home Families

It has been over six (6) weeks since nursing homes in New York State enacted restrictions and procedures to help mitigate the COVID-19 virus from entering our buildings. These past weeks have challenged all of us to adapt to the extraordinary changes imposed by the virus.
Thank you for your continued understanding and positive words of encouragement for our staff. They truly are “heroes”. Our staff demonstrates compassion, dignity and professionalism during a very scary time in our country. Social distancing in a nursing home environment is almost impossible due to the care needs our residents require. For example, we provide assistance with dressing, toileting and feeding. Our staff continue to wear all the necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to help ensure the safety of both your loved ones and our staff.
We do not have any COVID-19 at our campus as of today’s date. However we cannot be assured that this will continue, but we will work diligently to keep the virus out of our buildings. Our enhanced disinfecting procedures are in place with a special emphasis on the nursing home areas. Our new Steramist Disinfecting System is deployed and being used daily! Additionally, we now have a dedicated COVID wing for if and when we receive a positive case. We will be able to isolate the COVID positive residents from the rest of our population.
We continue to follow the guidance and directives from the New York State Department of Health. Our open communication and transparency will continue to all families and staff. As a reminder, please email us at covidguestions@jewishhomeroc.org for any concerns or questions you may have.
